2006 W-SAE going for,,,,

179.00 on the treasure hunter coin show! And there are people actually buying them.

I can believe how naive people can be when you can pick these up on Ebay all day long for 70 bucks

You know it's bad when eBayers are your point of market sanity.

Well, Green is right.....but more to the point - not everyone has computer access - not everyone knows they can buy coins online - not everyone knows about Ebay...........

Granted they are wasting their money but lets be nice - most people do UNTIL someone teaches them there are other and cheaper options.

I bet - if we were all being honest - each of us did too!!

On the other hand - if you tell them all - the prices will go up on Ebay like a rocket and you won't be able to buy as cheap - so bless and thank the universe there are people who don't know better! :haha:

When I found out the Mint was not going to sell be able to fulfill my order, one of the members of GIM was very kind and sold me a set at her cost.......they will remain nameless, cause I am not sure they would want it publicized, then I bought a few more off Ebay before the commotion started!

So far, I have graded only half - all MS 69's except for one PR 70 on the reverse proof.......when I found out PCGS graded it at 70 (they have only graded 6% at that level) - it felt like I hit the lottery!

I truly believe in a few years, if TS does not HTF, and we're all still here.....that these sets will be worth a whole lot more.

And with the silver I have, I can afford to sit on a few special ounces, these and the silver lunar sets, even if i have to sell everything else.

Well, gotta go.....gotta dig a very deep hole in the backyard and bury my coins (so I can never see them again till TSHTF :hahaha: )

Good for you, Master Ho!

I totally missed the boat. I was supposed to get some for a gift, so I did not buy any. I bought other coins instead.

Now, I am too cheap to buy at the prices people are asking.

I'm not complaining, I have other coins that will do.

Hey, I almost missed the boat too - but I knew this was going to go nutz and jumped as best I could.......tho I wish I could have gotten my orders from the Mint, that would have been 6 sets at $100 each!

I have a couple more sets to have graded - need to see what I really have.......

And, you never know, down the road. once I know what I really have, you might have somethnig really interesting to trade......but you can't be TOO cheap! :D

right now I am starting to wonder about this again. I bought a proof for a decent price. but what about business strikes; is this one of those issues where the highest quality business strikes are worth more than proofs? seems that way from what I've seen

The W uncirculated and the reverse proof are the two keys in the set, the reverse proof has the lowes mintage then the uncirculated w of the whole series, will be worth big bucks by end of year.

I bought 2 of the 2006-W Unc. ASE this week on ebay. After S&H and ins. I have about $75 each in them. I hated to pay that much for them but I just couldn't help myself. I've got 3 of the 20th anniversary sets I ordered from the mint but I missed out on the unc. singles.

Any thoughts? Is a trade for 2006W ASEs totally crazy?

P.S. I missed the 2006W from the Mint and purchased 2 @$57.95 each incl. shipping so I'm a bit under current value on those.

Personally I think if 4 single 2006W ASEs were offered for a set, you should take it. 1 is included in the set (obviously), so that'd mean 3 singles for the reverse proof + the regular proof. That's roughly what they are going for on ebay right now ($75 for a single and $300 for the set). Or three singles plus 4-5 lunars would probably be acceptable (imho). Something along those lines. If more were offered, I certainly wouldn't turn it down (well, I would, because I only have the one set and am going to keep it, but I wouldn't if I were you and had multiple sets). :chat:

Comments on the 2006-w gold uncircuated? I bought a 1/2 oz. from the mint, figuring that the mintage would be low.

4 for 1 is what I am thinking, or you could ask for 5 since the anniversary set issued for $100 and the 2006W ASE issued for $19.95. I guess it really comes down to how many anniversary sets you have. I don't think I would trade if I only had 1 or 2. The reverse proof may turn out to be the big winner.
